Collection: Cranberry-Stained Glass Lamp Shades

The origins of cranberry glass, or ruby glass are currently unknown, making the original process and where it came from a mystery. Historians believed a form of this enchanting glass was made in the late Roman Empire, evidenced by the British Museum's collection of a 4th century roman glass cage cup, the Lycurgus Cup made of glass that shows two different colors when light passes through. The red glass is made by using rare and precious gold salts, or colloidal glass.
